FAQs

What is Light Lace™?

Light Lace™ is a soft and stretchable fiberoptic sensor that can be applied to different materials to measure pressure and stretching.

How does Light Lace™ work?

Light Lace™ sensors are equipped with a light source and detector on each end. When the fiberoptic sensor is stretched, there is a change in intensity of the light. We measure the intensity change and output chest expansion, joint angle, muscle volume change and more.

What can Light Lace™ measure?

LLUME: The Strap can measure respiration rate, ventilation, heart rate and other respiratory metrics. LLUME: The Shirt is designed to measure and recreate arm motion, muscle shape changes of tricep and bicep, as well as shoulder and elbow joint angles and torques. Light Lace™ sensors can also be integrated into socks, shoes, leggings etc. to provide deeper insights into full body biomechanics.

How is Light Lace™ different?

Unlike other commercially available sensors, Light Lace™ relies on light, instead of electronics. Therefore - it can sample and acquire data faster, is soft and stretchable, and is not subject to electromagnetic interference. Use of fiberoptic technology also allows for a fully removable pod that can go from The Strap to The Shirt.

How will I benefit from this?

Light Lace™ provides real time feedback on exertion zones, fatigue levels, and a much more precise understanding of human motion. You can use our products to further improve your training regime, assess your consistency, and reduce injury risks.
